Attribute 15.09 - Government entities not only report to the head of the government, legislators, and regulators but to the public as well. In the federal government, entities not only report to the President and Congress but also to the public. Entities consider appropriate methods for communicating with such a broad audience.

2020: General Election Anomalies

Maricopa County's performance with the tabulation of ballots during the 2020 General Election deviated significantly from past elections. Any rationalization to attribute the results to Covid-19 public health mandates could be discredited given that Maricopa County's performance was substandard to the tabulation of results nationwide, which were also operating under Covid-19 public health mandates. The external communications did not adequately address the concerns of Arizona Legislatures or the public.

2021: My Journey Begins

I directed questions to the Maricopa County Recorder, expecting a response since this is an elected position. I incorrectly assumed that elected officials would be interested in addressing citizen concerns. There was a brief interface between me and the Maricopa County Recorder. However, there was no response to my inquiries. Once again, this Green Book Attribute explains the importance of communications with the public, which didn't happen.

Arizona Senate Allegations

Arizona Senate allegations arose from MC's failure to recognize the Arizona Senates Oversight Role. These allegations were investigated and reported on by the Arizona Attorney General's Office 2020 General Election Investigation. This Green Book attribute applies given MC leadership uncooperative communications with the Arizona Senate.

Governance issues identified from Arizona Attorney General's Office 2020 General Election Investigation of Arizona Senate allegations of Maricopa County Election Department - Drop Box Collections issues.

• MC did not respond to citizens. Therefore, the citizens took their allegations to the Arizona Senate.
• MC did not respond to the Arizona Senate. Therefore, the Arizona Senate took their allegations to the Arizona Attorney General.
• The Arizona Attorney General confirmed the allegations.

MC uncooperative attitude resulted in untimely resolution of the allegations.
